Spectral Coverage of U1 & U2 scansThe table below contains links to graphic images depicting the spectral distribution of Copernicus U1 and U2 scans. The numbers represent the total number of available U1 and U2 scans for each observed target, as well as the number of U1 scans for each target obtained in six wavelength bins. (Scans for which the detector was fixed in wavelength or in which the average counts equalled 0, were excluded.) The first two columns list the file number and the target name. Clicking on the highlighted numbers will display plots of scan number versus wavelength (in Angstroms). The scan number is a sequential number describing the order in which a scan was obtained for a particular target. For example, the 127th scan of Lambda Sco would have scan number 127. The length of each bar in the plot represents the spectral range of each scan. The right axis of each plot represents approximate observation dates although note the time scale is not linear. The plots show that in general, the U2 scans tend to cover a larger spectral range and have a more uniform spectral coverage. U1 scans tended to concentrate on specific wavelength regions, particularly around interstellar absorption lines.
