The ACS Globular Cluster Survey

HST Press Release image of M13

The ACS Globular Cluster Treasury program (PI: Ata Sarajedini, University of Florida, HST Program 10775) used the ACS/WFC instrument on board the Hubble Space Telescope to obtain uniform imaging of 65 of the nearest globular clusters to provide an extensive homogeneous dataset for a broad range of scientific investigations. In June 2013, six new clusters were added to the archive from the HST program 11586. An overview of the project was published by Sarajedini, A. et al. 2007, "The ACS Survey of Galactic Globular Clusters. I. Overview and Clusters Without Previous Hubble Space Telescope Photometry" AJ, 133, 1658.

The team has archived the reference images and the associated photometry catalogs at MAST. Databases of artificial stars are also available at the team website http://www.astro.ufl.edu/~ata/public_hstgc/.

The paper by Anderson et al. 2008, "The ACS Survey of Galactic Globular Clusters. V. Generating a Comprehensive Star Catalog for each Cluster," AJ, 135, 2055 describes the software used to process the cluster data in an automated way and describes in detail the rationale, algorithms and output.
