Please take the MAST Survey.

Batch retrievals of HST data will be unavailable Thursday, October 30 for a period between 9 and 11 AM EDT . Access to HSTOnline data will available.

Fast Access to ACS Public Data

Researchers can quickly access via anonymous ftp selected data from ACS Early Release Observations, GOODS Treasury data, and other public ACS data that are expected to be in heavy demand. This mode is highly recommended as it will significantly reduce the time required to obtain the data compared to the normal retrieval process, as well as reduce the load on the HST processing and distribution systems.

Please note:

  • Because the ACS calibration is still evolving, the data will be periodically reprocessed to take advantage of the new calibration files.

  • The WFC images are large, typically 34 MB for the raw files and up to 215 MB for the final drizzled images. Downloading the files will thus require plenty of disk space and a high bandwidth connection.

  • The reference files associated with the data are located in the anonymous ftp area for those who wish to recalibrate the data. They may also be obtained from the ACS Reference Files page.

The following categories of ACS data are currently available.

ACS Early Release Observations

Press Release & Images

Data files are available via anonymous ftp from archive.stsci.edu/pub/ero/. The datasets for each target have been placed in folders by target, e.g. mice, tadpole. The README files briefly describe the files provided. The HRC images are not included here but may be retrieved through the normal search and retrieval interfaces. Please note that the observations of the Cone and Omega Nebula have been removed from the FastAccess anonymous ftp area. This action was required due to limited disk space and relatively low demand for those data. The data may be retrieved through the normal search and retrieval methods.

See the ACS ERO Fast Access page for a table listing the individual datasets by target and filter.

Great Observatories Origins Deep Survey (GOODS)

The GOODS HST Treasury program will obtain ACS images of the Hubble Deep Field North and the Chandra Deep Field South as part of the GOODS Program.

Five epochs of CDF-S observations and the first three epochs of HDF-N observations have been completed. These data carry no proprietary period, and will be placed in the appropriate folders as soon as they become available.

High-level science products (processed B, V, I, z images of CDF-S and HDF-N and related files) from the GOODS Treasury program are now available via an anonymous ftp site. You may find it useful to read the file naming conventions before downloading files. The Readme file is called called h_goods_s1v05_rdm.txt.

Data files are available via anonymous ftp from archive.stsci.edu/pub/goods/. The datasets for each target have been placed in folders by pointing, hdfn for the Hubble Deep Field North and cdfs for the Chandra Deep Field South. The README files briefly describe the files provided. The HRC images will be provided as well as the WFC data.

A list of available files by channel and filter is available on the GOODS CDF-S Fast Access page and GOODS HDF-N Fast Access Page; these pages are updated automatically as observations are made and archived.
