NGC 3718 (UGC 6524, 1129+5320)

NGC 3718 (UGC 6524, 1129+5320) -- This Sa galaxy has a prominent optical LINER spectrum, including a broad H component similar to that of Seyfert 1 galaxies (Ho et al. 1996a). Its UV image is blank, and this may be related to the fact that the optical line ratios are indicative of reddening. A dust lane that crosses optical images of the galaxy near the nucleus is a candidate agent of these effects.
