3C 388; z=0.090

This is the cD galaxy of an Abell class 2 cluster [Prestage and Peacock1988] with a close bright and round companion to the southwest. Two possible nearby companions are visible within the halo of the galaxy, about 1'' north of the nucleus. These two possible companions were also detected by [Martel et al.1999] in their WFPC2 image. In the near-infrared, they appear unresolved.
