Elliptical elongated from the northeast to the southwest.
There is a subtle cut-off in the light distribution in the northeast
to southwest direction due to a semicircular dust lane wrapping around
the nucleus. This dust lane is more notable on the WFPC2 images and
was detected by[Martel et al.1999] absorption map of [de Koff et al.2000]
clearly shows this dust disk too. [O'Dea et al.2001] found four very
blue regions of star formation on the edge of the dust
lane.
