SRCTYPE

Source type used for calibration

The SRCTYPE keyword is used by the calibration pipeline for spectroscopic modes to determine whether the spectral data should be treated as a point or extended source. This instance of the SRCTYPE keyword is used for modes that allow only for a single designated target: MIRI LRS and MRS, NIRISS SOSS, NIRSpec IFU. For these modes, the user has the option to specify the source type in the APT. This value is passed to the calibration pipeline via the SRCTYAPT keyword. This value, if present, is copied to the SRCTYPE keyword. If the user did not specify a value or specified 'UNKNOWN', SRCTYPE is set to a default value that is suitable for each observing mode.
