CEA Unharmed in Big Fire
------------------------

Following yesterday's devastating fire in the Oakland/Berkeley
hills, operations have returned to normal at the Center for EUV
Astrophysics. The EUVE SOC operation was uninterrupted
throughout the emergency.

The Science Data Analysis computer system was powered down for
about 18 hours after the evacuation of the Space Sciences Labora-
tory (CEA's parent institution in the hills), but full service
has been restored as of 11:30 am, PDT. There was no damage to
any EUVE equipment or facilities. Several employees lost their
homes in the fires.
