From: Damian, Pat, Marty Memo: DJC/EUVE/0073/95 Subject: Moon Configuration DS shut-down rate We have analyzed Deep Survey (DS) adc count rates from a sample of observations taken in the last six months. Our goal was to find a DS shutdown rate that would turn the detector off during the moon observation but allow it to stay on during other observations including spikes, but excluding SAA. The DS adc rate data is summarized in the table below. Generally, the average rate is below 100 cts/sec. In many cases the maximum rate is a spike. Inspection of the graphs shows average rates near or slightly exceeding 200 counts/sec in several cases. For this reason we have chosen 300 cts/sec as the new nominal shut-down rate. To prevent spikes from turning the DS off we will set the count rate limit at 9000 and the number of frames to be averaged over at 30.
