About this Article
MAST Staff - 2025 Jul 09To improve the performance of MAST services, coordinate cone searches will no longer return results for Spitzer Space Telescope observations; and Spitzer data will no longer be discoverable with exo-mast. The custodian of Spitzer data is IRSA, and we recommend querying their services. These changes became necessary due to the increasingly large volumes of data held by MAST.
If you created Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) that include Spitzer data, the links will continue to work normally. At this time, non-spatial metadata queries using astroquery.mast and Portal Advanced Search will also continue to yield Spitzer results. Searches using coordinates — or an object name resolved to a coordinate — will not return Spitzer observations. In the future, metadata search in MAST may also be turned off for Spitzer, but not at this time.
