K2 Data Search Help
Use the K2 Data Search and Retrieval Search form to
search the K2 archives
by object name (resolved to coordinates), position,
observation date, EPIC ID, etc., and retrieve data.
Note the current interface uses a table
based on a combination of EPIC, the K2
Target Catalog, and an internal Science table generated from data
extracted from FITS file keywords.
- K2 ID
- K2 catalog ID. A sequential number
assigned by Kepler project to uniquely identify K2 targets
(as defined in the EPIC and Customized Aperture file list).
Range of current observations is 200000811 to 229228998.
- Investigation ID
- ID
assigned by the Kepler project describing GO
observing programs. Note that for this particular field,
wild cards are automatically added before and after the user-specified
input. For example,
entering "GO001" will query for all IDs containing the string "GO0001".
examples: GO0001, GO0001_GO0032
- 2MASS ID
- 2MASS catalog ID, a sexagesimal, equatorial position-based source name in the
form: hhmmssss+ddmmsss[ABC...]
included in the KIC)
examples: 19065536+3756395
- Target Type
- Target type
examples: LC (long cadence) or SC (short cadence)
- Object Type
- Type of object based on EPIC categories ("star" or "extended")
plus categories and target names assigned to the
Custom Aperture observations (e.g., extended.M35).
Entries with an asterisk (i.e., '*') indicate subtypes are available.
From the search form, a 'subtype' form element will appear showing a
pulldown menu of subtypes to refine searches.
Note wildcards are added before and after the
user-specified value so entering a category like "extended"
will also find extended.M35.
- Subtype
- Subtype of object based on the categories of
Custom Aperture observations assigned by the Kepler project,
and (for exoplanet host stars) the K2 planets table.
On the K2 search form, this initially-hidden form element
is displayed based on the user-selected Object Type.
- Kepler Magnitude
- Kepler-band magnitude
range 2.98 to 25.
- Campaign
- A number indicating the campaign in which the
exposure was made. The numbers range from 0 to 8, with campaigns 9a
and 9b designated as 91 and 92, and campaigns 10a and 10b to be assigned
numbers 101 and 102. Entering numbers 9 or 10 will return
both subsets. Note targets may appear in more than one campaign.
