IDL Virtual Machine

To use the IDL Virtual Machine to run the FUSE IDL data-analysis tools:

1. Retrieve IDL from the ITT website (http://www.ittvis.com/idl). You don't need an IDL license to download the code. During installation, you can choose to install just the IDL Virtual Machine or the full version of IDL (which includes the IDL Virtual Machine).
2. Download and install the fuse_idl_utilities_022007.tar.gz and ltools_022007.tar.gz packages.
3. To run cf_edit, issue the following command:

   idl -vm=cf_edit.sav

   If the file cf_edit.sav is not in your working directory, you must give the complete path to the file. Don't put spaces around the equals sign.
